Product information "Anti-Human BOC Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Brother of CDO (BOC) is a cell surface receptor encoded by the BOC gene, belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily and characterized by multiple fibronectin type III repeats, which localize it to the plasma membrane and axonal growth cones. BOC forms complexes with its homolog CDON and participates in a positive feedback loop with myogenic transcription factors, notably MyoD, to promote myogenic differentiation, it also interacts with ABL and activates JNK, thereby supporting neuronal differentiation and neurite outgrowth. The protein's expression is tightly regulated during development and is downregulated by oncogenic Ras, which blocks differentiation, but forced re-expression of BOC can restore differentiation programs in muscle and neuronal cells. Disease associations primarily involve its role in tumorigenesis, as altered BOC expression or function can disrupt normal differentiation pathways, contributing to the development and progression of cancers such as rhabdomyosarcoma and potentially other malignancies where cell adhesion and differentiation are dysregulated. Protein Function: Component of a cell-surface receptor complex that mediates cell-cell interactions between muscle precursor cells. Promotes differentiation of myogenic cells [The Uniprot Consortium]
