Product information "Anti-Human Biglycan Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Biglycan (BGN) is a small leucine-rich repeat proteoglycan found in various extracellular matrix tissues, including bone, cartilage, and tendon. It consists of a protein core with leucine-rich repeat regions and two glycosaminoglycan chains. BGN plays crucial roles in collagen fibril assembly, bone mineralization, and muscle development and regeneration. It interacts with multiple proteins, including BMP-4, TGF-beta, and components of the dystrophin-associated protein complex. The 45 kDa core protein can form noncovalently-associated dimers and is subject to proteolytic processing. BGN also functions in inflammation and innate immunity through interactions with TLR2, TLR4, and other receptors. Mutations in the BGN gene are associated with X-linked spondyloepimetaphyseal dysplasia, characterized by severe short-trunk dwarfism and brachydactyly. Additionally, BGN may contribute to atherosclerosis and aortic valve stenosis in humans. Protein Function: May be involved in collagen fiber assembly [The Uniprot Consortium]
