Product Description: ATPase plasma membrane Ca2+ transporting 4 (ATP2B4), is a protein encoded by the ATP2B4 gene. This enzyme belongs to the family of P-type primary ion transport ATPases and plays a critical role in intracellular calcium homeostasis by removing bivalent calcium ions from eukaryotic cells against large concentration gradients. The expression of different isoforms and splice variants is regulated in a developmental, tissue- and cell type-specific manner, suggesting functional adaptation to the physiological needs of particular cells and tissues. Diseases associated with ATP2B4 include Spastic Paraplegia 42, Autosomal Dominant, and it has been implicated in various other conditions such as familial adult myoclonic epilepsy, gastrointestinal stromal tumor, hypokalemic periodic paralysis, and parathyroid carcinoma.
