Product information "Anti-Human ABCB5 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: ATP binding cassette subfamily B member 5 (ABCB5) is a plasma membrane-spanning protein encoded by the ABCB5 gene in humans. It belongs to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily and is primarily expressed in physiological skin and human malignant melanoma. ABCB5 has been implicated in various diseases, including melanoma, colorectal cancer, and malignant pleural mesothelioma, where it contributes to chemotherapeutic drug resistance and tumor growth by regulating a proinflammatory signaling circuit. In normal physiology, ABCB5 is a functional marker for adult limbal stem cells of the cornea and plays a key role in corneal development and repair. The protein has 1257 amino acid residues, a molecular weight of 138639.48, and a theoretical pI of 8.41. Its specific function includes energy-dependent efflux transporter activity, which is responsible for decreased drug accumulation in multidrug-resistant cells. Protein Function: Energy-dependent efflux transporter responsible for decreased drug accumulation in multidrug-resistant cells (PubMed:12960149, PubMed:15205344, PubMed:15899824, PubMed:22306008). Specifically present in limbal stem cells, where it plays a key role in corneal development and repair (By similarity) [The Uniprot Consortium]
