In addition, ForMedium has added six animal free media to its vegetal range of culture media for growth of E. coli. In vegetal media, Tryptone is replaced by soya peptone, thus avoiding any contamination of medium with constituents of animal origin. Although the Nitrogen content of soya peptone compared to tryptone is slightly lower, this difference does not notably influence growth and protein expression.
