Histatin 8 is a salivary antimicrobial peptide and proteolytic fragment of histatin 3 and histatin 5 (Cay-36721). It is active against A. baumannii, including strains that are susceptible or resistant to colistin (Cay-17584) when used at a concentration of 32 µg/ml.
