Mouse VWC2 is a secreted, 35kD (predicted) member of the chordin family of proteins. It is expressed in the choroid plexus and by neurons in multiple sites, and serves to sequester BMP family proteins such as BMP-2 and BMP-6. BMP antagonism is suggested to generate neurons from neural precursor cells at the expense of astrocytes. Mouse VWC2 precursor is 324aa in length. It contains a 27aa signal sequence, one poly-Ala region (aa124-129), and two von Willebrand factor C domains (aa152-211, 215-273) that likely serve as BMP interaction sites. Over aa28-324, mouse VWC2 shares 90aa identity with human VWC2. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1ug/ml, Immunohistochemistry: 5-15ug/ml, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: NSO myeloma cells with B cells from Balb/c mice. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
