Anti-Tau (Tau Protein, Microtubule-associated Protein, MAP), clone 7H166

Tau protein is named for its ability to serve as a bridge for microtubule formation and stabilization. Tau in PNS neurons is 758 amino acids (aa) in length and 110 kD in size. It migrates anomalously in SDS-page. Its N-terminus binds plasma membrane components while its C-terminus binds microtubules. The microtubule-binding region contains four consecutive Tau/MAP repeats between aa 561-685. Each repeat is 30 aa long, Ser/Thr rich, and shows a PGGG motif. Multiple isoforms exist, ranging from 316 to 776 aa in length. Various deletions occur within the first 500 aa, with some isoforms also showing an absence of the second Tau repeat (aa 592-622). Between aa 624-756, human Tau protein shows absolute identity to mouse and dog Tau. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 0.5-1ug/ml. Detection limit is ~3ng/well., Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml. Detection limit is ~5ng/lane under reducing and non-reducing conditions, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute by adding sterile PBS. Aliquot and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
