Anti-Syndecan 3

Human Syndecan 3 (also N-syndecan) is a 120-150 kD member of the cell surface heparan sulfate syndecan proteoglycan family. It is a type I transmembrane (TM) protein that contains a 337 amino acid (aa) extracellular (ECD) (aa's # 48-384) and a short 33 aa cytoplasmic tail. It potentially exists as a homodimer. There is one splice variant that shows a 28 aa substitution for the N-terminal 86 aa of the standard precursor. The signal sequence in this substitution is undefined. Syndecan 3 is proteolytically cleaved, once in the ECD and once in the TM segment. This generates a 336 aa ECD soluble form (aa's #48-383), a 20 aa TM soluble form (aa's # 384-403), and a free cytosolic fragment. Syndecan 3 is found on visceral smooth muscle, axons and Schwann cells. Human ECD is 83% aa identical to both mouse and rat syndecan-3 , ECD. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunocytochemistry and ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunocytochemistry: 10ug/ml, ELISA: 0.5-1ug/ml, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 40-50% glycerol and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
