Anti-Prostaglandin F1 alpha, 6-keto (PGF1a)

6-keto-Prostaglandin F1a (6-k-PGF1a) is a stable hydrolyzed product of unstable PGI2 (prostacyclin). PGI2 is derived from PGH2 which in turn is synthesized from the cyclooxygenase pathway. Through this pathway, it is the major product produced by the endothelial cells, although it is also synthesized in other cell types such as macrophages. Prostacyclin inhibits platelet aggregation and induces vasodilation. Quantitation of prostacyclin production can be made by determining the level of 6-k-PGF1a. Applications: Suitable for use in RIA. Other applilcations have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
