Spirapril (hydrochloride)

Spirapril is an inhibitor of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE, IC50 = 67 nM) and a prodrug form of spiraprilat. It inhibits the angiotensin I-induced pressor response in rats and dogs with half-maximal inhibitory dose (ID50) values of 16 and 262 µg/kg, respectively. Spirapril (5 mg/kg) decreases systolic blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy and induces angiogenesis in spontaneously hypertensive rats.
