Sekundärantikörper-Fragmente

Antikörperfragmente wie Fab (fragment antigen binding) oder F(ab’)2 werden durch Papain- bzw. Pepsin-Spaltungen ganzer Immunglobuline G (IgG) hergestellt. Da der komplette Fc-Teil des Antikörpers fehlt, sind diese Proteine kleiner und können Gewebe effizienter penetrieren. Weiterer Nutzen: weniger Hintergrundfärbung bei Geweben und Zellen mit Fc-Rezeptoren. Fragmentierte Sekundärantikörper werden außerdem häufig zum Blockieren freier Bindungsstellen beim Einsatz mehrerer spezies-identischer Primärantikörper verwendet.
