Phosphatidylinositol 3 - kinase is composed of an 85 kDa regulatory subunit and a 110 kDa catalytic subunit. The catalytic subunit is encoded by the PIK3CA gene . It p hosphorylates PtdIns, PtdIns4P and PtdI ns(4,5)P2 . The PIK3CA gene is one of the most frequently mutated genes in human cancers.
