Candidalysin

Description: Candidalysin is a cytolytic peptide toxin initially isolated from *Candida albicans*, exhibiting both toxic and non-toxic properties. It activates epithelial cell signaling pathways by interacting with the epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR) on host cells, leading to the activation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) and calcium ion influx, which results in inflammatory responses and immune cell recruitment.
