CART, aa55-102 Control Peptide (Cocaine and Amphetamine Related Transcript, CARP)

CART has been found to control satiety modulating the actions of two key regulators of food intake, leptin and NPY. Starvation decreases CART levels in the arcuate nucleus (3). Obese animals have virtually no CART. CART inhibits both normal and starvation-induced feeding, and completely inhibits NPY-induced feeding. Immunoneutralization of CART by administration of anti-CART resulted into higher food intake suggesting that CART is an endogenous regulator of food intake. Recognizes Cocaine and Amphetamine Related Transcript (CART). Species Reactivity: Rat and Mouse, the immunogen peptide is 100% conserved in mouse and rat. Control peptide for C1386-55. Peptide is 100% conserved in mouse and rat. It has only 1 conservative change in human CART (47/48 AA, 97%). Partial sequence reported from sheep CART is also 100% conserved.
