Thiocolchicine is an inhibitor of microtubule assembly (IC50 = 2.5 µM) and a derivative of colchicine (Cay-9000760). It inhibits binding of colchicine to tubulin (Ki = 0.7 µM in a radioligand binding assay). Thiocolchicine inhibits proliferation of MDA-MB-231 and multidrug resistant (MDR) MCF-7 ADRr breast cancer cells (IC50s = 0.6 and 400 nM, respectively) as well MDR CEM-VBL leukemia cells (IC50 = 50 nM).Formal Name: N-[(7S)-5,6,7,9-tetrahydro-1,2,3-trimethoxy-10-(methylthio)-9-oxobenzo[a]heptalen-7-yl]-acetamide.
