Prednisolone Phosphate (sodium salt)

Prednisolone phosphate is a prodrug form of the synthetic glucocorticoid prednisolone (Cay-20866) and a derivative of prednisone (Cay-20677). It is hydrolyzed to prednisolone in vivo. Prednisolone phosphate (10 mg/kg), administered in long-circulating liposomes, decreases inflammation and the levels of IL-1beta in the synovium, as well as reduces damage to the cartilage matrix in a mouse model of antigen-induced arthritis. It also reduces tumor growth in B16/F10 melanoma and C26 colon carcinoma mouse models when administered in long-circulating liposomes at a dose of 20 mg/kg.
