Uroplakin-2 (UP2) is a member of the uroplakin family.1 It is expressed as a proprotein composed of an N-terminal signal peptide and prodomain, which are cleaved in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), and a C-terminal domain, which contains the mature peptide sequence, which is composed of a serine- and threonine-rich extracellular domain, a transmembrane domain, and a short cytoplasmic tail. It is expressed in urothelial umbrella cells and forms protective plaques with UP1a, UP1b, and UP3 in the urinary tract.1 Antibodies targeting UP2 have been used in diagnostic panels for identifying cancers that originate in urothelial tissue.3 Cayman's UP2 Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody (Clone RM507) can be used for immunohistochemistry (IHC) and Western blot (WB) applications.
