Anti-SP-A

Anti-SP-A antibody is directed against human SP-A protein.  The product was affinity purified from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity purification.  A BLAST analysis was used to suggest reactivity with this protein from human and rat based on homology for the immunogen sequence.  Cross reactivity with SP-A from other sources has not been determined. Protein function: In presence of calcium ions, it binds to surfactant phospholipids and contributes to lower the surface tension at the air-liquid interface in the alveoli of the mammalian lung and is essential for normal respiration.
