Anti-Haptoglobin (HP, BP, Haptoglobin alpha Chain, Haptoglobin beta Chain, HP2ALPHA2, HPA1S, MGC1111

HP is a preproprotein, which is processed to yield both alpha and beta chains, which subsequently combine as a tetramer to produce haptoglobin. Haptoglobin functions to bind free plasma hemoglobin, which allows degradative enzymes to gain access to the hemoglobin, while at the same time preventing loss of iron through the kidneys and protecting the kidneys from damage by hemoglobin. Mutations in this gene and/or its regulatory regions cause ahaptoglobinemia or hypohaptoglobinemia. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot. Immunohistochemistry and Flow Cytometry. Other applications have not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1:1000-1:8000, Immunohistochemistry (FFPE): 1:10-1:50, Flow Cytometry: 1:25, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
