Anti-Fas (human), mAb (APO-1-1) (preservative free)

Functional Application: Induces apoptosis upon cross-linking, but less efficient than clone APO-1-3. Protein function: Receptor for TNFSF6/FASLG. The adapter molecule FADD recruits caspase-8 to the activated receptor. The resulting death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) performs caspase-8 proteolytic activation which initiates the subsequent cascade of caspases (aspartate-specific cysteine proteases) mediating apoptosis. FAS-mediated apoptosis may have a role in the induction of peripheral tolerance, in the antigen- stimulated suicide of mature T-cells, or both. The secreted isoforms 2 to 6 block apoptosis (in vitro). [The UniProt Consortium] Note: APO-1-1 (IgG1) is an isotype-switch variant of the original clone APO-1-3 (IgG3) (Prod. No. AG-20B-0062PF). Since undesired side reactions in immunohistochemistry are minimal for IgG1 antibodies, APO-1-1 is especially useful for immunohistology on cryostat sections and on cytospin preparations.
