The protein encoded by this gene is a calcium-dependent_x000D_ glycoprotein that is a member of the desmocollin subfamily of the_x000D_ cadherin superfamily. These desmosomal family members, along with_x000D_ the desmogleins, are found primarily in epithelial cells where they_x000D_ constitute the adhesive proteins of the desmosome cell-cell_x000D_ junction and are required for cell adhesion and desmosome_x000D_ formation. The desmosomal family members are arranged in two_x000D_ clusters on chromosome 18, occupying less than 650 kb combined._x000D_ Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants encoding_x000D_ distinct isoforms. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, ELISA, Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000, Western Blot: 1:100-500, Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
