Protein function: Catalyzes the exchange of the acyl chain in acyl- dihydroxyacetonephosphate (acyl-DHAP) for a long chain fatty alcohol, yielding the first ether linked intermediate, i.e. alkyl- dihydroxyacetonephosphate (alkyl-DHAP), in the pathway of ether lipid biosynthesis.
