ALAS2, Recombinant, Human (Aminolevulinate delta-Synthase 2, Delta ALA Synthetase)

ALAS2 specifies an erythroid-specific mitochondrially located enzyme. It catalyzes the first step in the heme biosynthetic pathway. Defects in this gene cause X-linked pyridoxine-responsive sideroblastic anemia. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to human ALAS, aa136-553, with N-terminal His tag, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~46kD, Applications: Useful for the study of enzyme kinetics, screening inhibitors, and selectivity profiling. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -70°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
