beta-Cortol

beta-Cortol is an endogenous metabolite of cortisol (hydrocortisone, Cay-20739). It is formed from cortisol via the intermediate metabolite 5beta-tetrahydrocortisol, which is dehydrogenated by 20beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (20beta-HSD) in the liver to produce beta-cortol.
