Anti-NASH Agent 1

Anti-NASH agent 1 is an anti-non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) agent and a derivative of the PPARalpha and PPARdelta agonist GFT505 (elafibranor, Cay-23508). It inhibits free fatty acid-induced triglyceride accumulation and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activity in HepG2 cells when used at a concentration of 40 µM. Anti-NASH agent 1 (3-30 mg/kg) decreases disease severity, reduces serum triglyceride, total cholesterol, LDL, Ast, alanine transaminase (Alt), TNF-alpha, IL-6, and IL-8 levels, and increases serum HDL and liver glutathione (GSH) levels in a mouse model of NASH induced by a methionine- and choline-deficient diet..
