Lithocholic acid (CRM) (Cay44907) is a certified reference material categorized as a secondary bile acid. Exogenously administered lithocholic acid induces cholestasis and hepatoxicity in animals. Plasma levels of lithocholic acid are increased in patients with Alzheimer's disease but not patients with mild cognitive impairment. Lithocholic acid is secreted at lower amounts from patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) than from individuals without CAD.
