Dihomo-gamma-linolenic acid ethyl ester (ethyl DGLA) is an ester form of the omega-6 fatty acid intermediate DGLA (Cay-90230). Dietary administration of ethyl DGLA (1 g/kg per day for 25 days) increases prostaglandin E1 (PGE1, Cay-13010 ) and PGE2 (Cay-14010) secretion in rabbit renal papilla. Ethyl DGLA (1 g/kg per day) increases triglyceride levels and the proportion of 20:3omega6 and 20:4omega6 phospholipids of the renal medulla in rabbits.
