Campestanol

Campestanol is a phytosterol found in vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds. Dietary administration of vegetable stanol esters (1% w/w) containing campestanol (30.1%) and sitostanol (65.7%, Cay-26094) lower serum cholesterol, LDL, VLDL, and intermediate-density lipoprotein (IDL) cholesterol levels in an APOE*3-Leiden transgenic mouse model of atherosclerosis.
