Pogostemon (patchouli) leaves and their extracted oils are used in perfumes and in traditional medicine to relieve sunstroke, stop vomiting, and increase appetite. Patchouli alcohol is a sesquiterpene alcohol found in patchouli oil. It has antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral actions.
