Citrinalin A

Antibiotic. Mycotoxin. Isolated from fungus Penicillium sp. Showed no antimicrobial, antifungal or cytotoxic activity in initial tests, therefore the activity profile of this compound is not known so far. Natural products that contain aliphatic nitro groups are extremely rare. In addition citrinalin A possesses three nitrogen atoms in chemically distinct environments which is rather unusual and therefore an attractive target for synthesis.
