Product Description: Plasma phosphorylated tau 181 (p-tau181) has emerged as a promising biomarker for Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related conditions. Studies show that elevated plasma p-tau181 levels are associated with increased amyloid-beta (Abeta) deposits across various brain regions in cognitively healthy adults. Furthermore, p-tau181 levels correlate with Abeta-positivity on positron emission tomography (PET), and they predict the conversion to dementia stage depending on renal function. However, p-tau181 does not appear to be directly linked to tau-PET burden.Additionally, plasma p-tau181 levels have been associated with cognitive decline in various populations, such as those with AD, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and other neurodegenerative diseases.
