Product Description: Plexin domain containing 1 (PLXDC1) is a single-pass type I membrane protein belonging to the plexin family. It plays a critical role in endothelial cell capillary morphogenesis and is predominantly localized at the tight junctions of vascular endothelial cells. PLXDC1 is expressed in fibrovascular membranes with increased expression in individuals with proliferative diabetic retinopathy and can be detected in endothelial cells from various cancers, including colorectal, lung, liver, pancreas, breast, and brain cancers. PLXDC1 interacts with NID1 and may also interact with CTTN, contributing to the proliferation and maintenance of neovascular endothelial cells in the formation of fibrovascular membranes (FVMs). Additionally, PLXDC1 has been identified as a receptor for PEDF (Pigment Epithelium-Derived Factor), a protein involved in cell survival and death pathways.
