Product Description: Opticin (OPTC) is a member of the small leucine-rich repeat protein (SLRP) family, primarily expressed in the eye, particularly in the vitreous body, cornea, and retina. This protein plays a significant role in maintaining the structural integrity of the extracellular matrix and may interact with collagen fibrils to regulate their organization. The OPTC gene is located on chromosome 1q31-q32, a region associated with susceptibility to age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and other ocular diseases. Alterations in OPTC expression have been linked to primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and normal-tension glaucoma (NTG).
