Product Description: Human IgA is the most abundant antibody produced in the human body, with important roles in immune defense and regulation. There are two main subclasses, IgA1 and IgA2, which differ in their structure and effector functions. Serum IgA can have both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory effects. IgA2 is more effective than IgA1 at inducing neutrophil extracellular trap formation and cytokine production in myeloid cells. Abnormal IgA levels, either too high or too low, have been associated with various diseases, including IgA nephropathy, autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis, and immunodeficiencies like selective IgA deficiency. The ratio of IgA1 to IgA2 has also been linked to disease severity in rheumatoid arthritis.
