Product Description: CHM like Rab escort protein (CHML) is a substrate-binding subunit of the Rab geranylgeranyltransferase complex that binds unprenylated Rab proteins and presents them to the catalytic subunit for geranylgeranyl transfer. This process is essential for proper Rab protein localization to intracellular membranes. CHML is structurally related to GDI and plays a crucial role in loading prenylated RabGTPases onto target membranes. The protein may substitute for REP-1 (encoded by the CHM gene) in tissues other than retina, supporting geranylgeranylation of most Rab proteins. Recent research indicates that CHML promotes migration, invasion, and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma cells in a Rab14-dependent manner, suggesting its potential role in cancer progression.
