Product Description: CD244, also known as SLAMF4 or 2B4, is a type-I transmembrane protein in the signaling lymphocytic activation molecule (SLAM) family, primarily expressed on natural killer (NK) cells and some T cells. It features two extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains and a cytoplasmic domain with immunoreceptor tyrosine-based switch motifs (ITSMs), facilitating interactions with the ligand CD48. This interaction regulates immune responses by mediating activating or inhibitory signals, influencing NK cell cytotoxicity and cytokine production. CD244 is implicated in various diseases, including autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis and infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, where its signaling pathways can affect disease outcomes. Protein Function: Heterophilic receptor of the signaling lymphocytic activation molecule (SLAM) family, its ligand is CD48. SLAM receptors triggered by homo- or heterotypic cell-cell interactions are modulating the activation and differentiation of a wide variety of immune cells and thus are involved in the regulation and interconnection of both innate and adaptive immune response. Activities are controlled by presence or absence of small cytoplasmic adapter proteins, SH2D1A/SAP and/or SH2D1B/EAT-2.
