UCHL1 is a member of family of proteins that hydrolyze small C-terminal adducts of ubiquitin to generate the ubiquitin monomer. The expression of UCHL1 is highly specific to neurons and to cell of the diffuse neuroendocrine system and their tumors. UCHL1 exhibits both and hydrolase and a ligase activity. The S18Y variant of UCHL1, that has reduced ligase activity, has been linked to susceptibility for Parkinson's disease. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 1:50, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
