Product information "Anti-Osteopontin (Bone Sialoprotein 1, SPP-1, Urinary Stone Protein, Uropontin, Nephropontin, Secret"
The protein encoded by this gene is involved in the attachment of osteoclasts to the mineralized bone matrix. The encoded protein is secreted and binds hydroxyapatite with high affinity. The osteoclast vitronectin receptor is found in the cell membrane and may be involved in the binding to this protein. This protein is also a cytokine that upregulates expression of interferon-gamma and interleukin-12. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Osteopontin, also named early T lymphocyte activation protein 1, secreted phosphoprotein, and bone sialoprotein 1, is a secreted acidic phosphorylated glycoprotein originally isolated from bone matrix. It has been shown to bind to different cell types through interactions with various integrins and CD44 variants. It has important functions in bone metabolism and inflammatory processes. Applications: Western Blot: 1:500-1:2000 Immunohistochemistry: 1:200-1:1000, Immunocytochemistry: 1:200-1:1000, ELISA: 1:10000, Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
