Product information "Anti-Lactalbumin, Alpha (Lactose Synthase B Protein, LALBA, LYZL7, MGC138521, MGC138523)"
Alpha Lactalbumin is the B protein of lactose synthetase secreted by the mammary epithelial cells. Alpha Lactalbumin is a potent Ca2+-elevating and apoptosis-inducing agent with broad, yet selective, cytotoxic activity. Multimeric alpha Lactalbumin killed all transformed, embryonic and lymphoid cells tested but spared mature epithelial elements. It suggests that milk contributes to mucosal immunity not only by furnishing antimicrobial molecules but also by policing the function of lymphocytes and epithelium. alpha Lactalbumin may be helpful in ascertaining the site of origin of metastatic breast tumors. This antibody can be used as an in vitro marker of terminally differentiated breast lumenal epithelial cells. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunohistochemistry: Frozen sections, Western Blot: detects a band at ~14kD, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
