Anti-human CD96

The monoclonal antibody NK92.39 reacts with CD96, also known as T cell-activated increased late expression (Tactile). CD96 promotes natural killer (NK) cell adhesion to target cells expressing the poliovirus receptor (PVR or CD155). Furthermore CD96 stimulates cytotoxicity of activated NK cells, and mediates acquisition of PVR from target cells. This means NK cells have due to the receptor CD96 a dual receptor system that recognizes nectins and nectin-like molecules on target cells and mediates NK cells adhesion and triggering of effector functions. As PVR is highly expressed in certain tumors, this receptor system may be critical for NK cell recognition of tumors. The monoclonal antibody NK92.39 blocks binding of soluble poliovirus receptor (PVR) to NK92 cells. Protein function: May be involved in adhesive interactions of activated T and NK cells during the late phase of the immune response. Promotes NK cell-target adhesion by interacting with PVR present on target cells. May function at a time after T and NK cells have penetrated the endothelium using integrins and selectins, when they are actively engaging diseased cells and moving within areas of inflammation.
