Anti-CD117 (Mast/Stem Cell Growth Factor Receptor Kit, SCFR, Piebald Trait Protein, PBT, Proto-oncog

KIT encodes the human homolog of the proto-oncogene c-kit. C-kit was first identified as the cellular homolog of the feline sarcoma viral oncogene v-kit. KIT is a type 3 transmembrane receptor for MGF (mast cell growth factor, also known as stem cell factor). Somatic gain-of-function mutations in the extracellular domain, kinase domains 1 and 2 are found in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs). Mutations in c-KIT gene are also associated with mast cell disease, acute myelogenous lukemia, and piebaldism. Tyrosine kinase inhibitor STI571 has been shown to inhibit GIST cells that express mutated c-KIT. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 1:50 , Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
