Anti-phospho-ATF2 (Ser490/Ser498)

Anti-ATF2 pS490/pS498 Antibody is directed against ATF2 protein phosphorylated at S490/pS498. The antibody was prepared from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity chromatography using phospho peptide coupled to agarose beads followed by solid phase adsorption(s) against non-phospho peptide and non-specific peptide to remove any unwanted reactivities. Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Rabbit Serum. This antibody is specific for phosphorylated ATF2. Minimal reactivity occurs against non-phosphorylated ATF2. Reactivity against ATF2 occurs from human sources. However, reactivity is also expected against rat based on 100% sequence homology. Protein function: Transcriptional activator, probably constitutive, which binds to the cAMP-responsive element (CRE) (consensus: 5'- GTGACGT[AC][AG]-3'), a sequence present in many viral and cellular promoters. Interaction with JUN redirects JUN to bind to CRES preferentially over the 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate response elements (TRES) as part of an ATF2/JUN complex. [The UniProt Consortium]
