Nerve Growth Factor is the first of a series of neurotrophic factors that were found to influence the growth and differentiation of sympathetic and sensory neurons. It is comprised of alpha, beta, and gamma subunits. The beta subunit is responsible for its growth stimulating activity. The synthesis of NGF in astrocytes is enhanced by various other cytokines: IL-1, TNF-alpha, PDGF and TGF-beta. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry and Inhibition. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1-3ug/ml, Western Blot: 1-3ug/ml, Immunohistochemistry: 1-3ug/ml, Inhibition of Biological Activity In vitro: 1-3ug/ml, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
