GTP-binding proteins (G-proteins) play a critical role in signal transduction by coupling receptors to effectors. The intracellular consequences of G-protein activation include second messenger generation, protein phosphorylation, ion channel activation, gene induction, cell growth, and differentiation. Gi belongs to the pertussis toxin sensitive G-proteins. Gi consists of three different subtypes of alpha-subunits (alphai1, alphai2 and alphai3). Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000, Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 1:100. Requires HIER with citrate buffer, pH 6.0, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Western Blot: L6 Cell Lysate, Immunohistochemistry: Rat cerebellum, Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
